I’m a Reader in Human Geography in the Department of Geography and Planning within the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Liverpool. Before this I was Reader in Migration and Material Culture in the History group at De Montfort University, Leicester.
My research interests are in migration, especially aspects relating to mobility, memory, material culture and cultural representation, and I am a specialist in Polish migration particularly. I have been working on an international project funded by the Research Council of Norway on the experiences of Poles in the UK, Sweden and Norway (FAMAC) and am writing about Brexit and Polish migration, as well as the relationships migrants have with the state in these different countries. I have also been writing about graphic narratives of the European ‘refugee crisis’.
I’m on the editorial board of the journals Mobilities, the Journal of Cultural Geography, and CEEMR (Central and Eastern European Migration Review).
My University of Liverpool web pages contain more information about my research and teaching, as well as my contact information.
